LIFE AT AROGYAM
Arogyam aims to build awareness of the eco-balanced lifestyle maintained at its campus. It runs Holistic Living and Life-balance workshops at the institute for the same. The institute generates revenue for classes, faculty, resources and runs in a self-sustaining way. The institute has also adopted its surrounding villages and is working in the area of waste management, child education and livelihood creation.
You can join Arogyam and contribute in many ways. You can avail the listed facilities at Arogyam, you can donate by clicking the DONATE button, you can join the Forestation drives and lot more. Below are some of our offerings....

FOREST DEVELOPMENT
Aarogyam aims at establishing a life saving forest, we are trying to make 27 Nakshatra Vatikas, 12 Rashi Vatikas, 9 Grha Vatikas, Shree Van and a Mahavan. As part of healing pursuits we are experimenting with raising a forest on the village Commons wasteland. Nowadays if one travels into the hinterland one finds that the village groves have shrunk into nothing-ness. So, we started to talk to the villagers and found some people excited about the prospect of rewilding the wasteland which are part of the village commons and mostly lay unused.
The process of tree plantation, we envisage, will result in the raising both the quality of air and the level of the water table in the area and become an enclave of biodiverse activity in the area. We believe ourselves to be part of the growing fraternity of women and men who agree upon the fundamentals rooted in alignment with Nature – its health being our health too and viewing ourselves as part this Great Whole.
VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT
Arogyam aims to develop village of Teharki through children education, women empowerment and by helping it be a plastic free village.
NATURAL FARMING
Aarogyam aims at establishing a natural farming so that residents and visitor can enjoy chemical and pesticide-free food
COW SHELTER
Aarogyam aims at establishing a Gaushala (Cow Shelter) which facilitates the imparting of practical knowledge regarding cultivating cows to people from all over India who are currently either researching on the cow or are keen to do so. The objective is two-fold:
(a) promote a cow-based economy for physical and emotional wellbeing and discover how it can be a self-sustainable model;
(b) educate people at large on the hidden life of cows and the symbiotic relationship between the two.
To start with, the intent is to setup a Gau Retreat on the premises of Arogyam. For this, we propose to plant a forest on 5.5 acres of land. The forest will be peopled by a variety of trees, herbs, bushes and shrubs that are not only great sources of oxygen but also have considerable medicinal value. It is this verdant, therapeutic forest that will be the grazing pastures for the cows of Arogyam.
It is widely believed that the cow will eat from a particular tree or bush that is therapeutic for her helper or sevak if he or she contracts an illness. While one may or may not subscribe to such claims anymore, traditional Indian systems of medicine have for long sung of the benefits of cow products. In fact, cow-pathy which is a ‘new’ domain of natural healing process involving products such as cow urine and panchagavya is gaining momentum among medics and users.
BIOGAS AND SOLAR POWER PLANT
A biogas plant is in the offing at Aarogyam. The gas produced from the plant will be our energy source to cook meals for everyone on the premises as also to make special feed and medicine for the animals. The idea of inner dependence underpins most activities in Aarogyam. To put this idea into practice, we also propose to be off-grid and generate our own electricity with the biogas and solar power plants becoming important resources. A generator powered by biogas and sun power will meet partly and, eventually, fully our daily electricity requirements.
Our vision is to have a model gaushala that may hold hope for our farmers and each of us to return to a cow-based culture to stay healthy, and, as a supplement, to be healed because a majority of us have violated Nature’s Laws. We envisage the gaushala to be self-sustainable in the near future. We hope it will pave the way for each district of India to have its gaushala training and facilitating thousands of farmers to return to organic farming. Not only does such a movement have the potential to generate employment but also be a fitting answer to the poison that we are knowingly or unknowingly ingesting in the name of food.
KAMDHENU BULLOCK DRAWN TRACTORS (KBDT)
One of the big challenges a gaushala faces today is the unemployment of the bull. Having moved to the more efficient tractor, the farmer has opted out of the bull-drawn hal. The animal is no longer not only unnecessary, it is a liability that is got rid of by sending it to the slaughter house.
The KBDT will bring back the bull on the field. It is an eco-friendly agro machine which greatly facilitates to remove the drudgery of farmers and bullocks in traditional ploughing. With it also comes relief from the high cost of tractors and chemicals on the field.
