"The Arogyam"
ABOUT US
Arogyam is a Sanskrit word indicative of a state of holistic health, which we know to be our common heritage. Nature bestowed upon us the gift of wellness as a state of being. But somewhere along the line, we swapped our gift for notions of development and turned away from her. The further we walked, the more we lost our bequest to chaos and dis-ease.
Arogyam is an endeavor to regain this gift.
Swept by the winds of a homestead life, barely 60 km from the noise and bluster of the city is an oasis: The Arogyam Institute of Health & Natural Sciences.
Set up jointly by a group of friends, Arogyam is a blueprint for those who want to take a shot at living differently. The institute, a not-for-profit organization, stretches out on nearly 3 acres of farmland in Teherki village in Palwal district, Haryana.
OUR VISION
To promote knowledge about Yoga, Natural Therapies and an ecologically sustainable model of living supported by a cow shelter and natural farming that promotes practices of village development & forest restoration.
OUR MISSION
- Create an on/off-grid self-sustaining farm to promote healthy alternate lifestyle for people residing in close by urban areas.
- Create a template for holistic living that is thereafter easily replicable by people around the country
- Test and implement traditional best practices to build this eco-balanced project.
OBJECTIVES
It is true that sustainable health lies in aligning the body, mind and spirit. The attempt here is to generate the conditions for this integration through turning our faces back on the clear road whereupon the fount of all health lies. As part of a growing world fraternity that agrees upon the fundamentals of good health, we believe that nothing today is more precious than clean air, living soil and drinking water, simple and nutritious food, exercise for the body and serenity of mind. This thought is the wellspring of all our activities at Arogyam. From growing our own vegetables in earth fertilized by cow slurry that comes from our gaushala to planting a forest, teaching yoga and integral medicine, we have a host of projects in the works.
